MASTERMIND OR MONSTER? Shakespeare’s RICHARD III and James Graham’s INK with Artistic Director Jason Loewith
Take a deep dive with Artistic Director Jason Loewith into two extraordinary texts about charismatic men and the worlds they changed. The cruelty and charisma of Shakespeare’s Richard III has fascinated audiences for more than 400 years, and its themes ripple through our culture today. Labour of Love playwright James Graham’s Tony-winning play Ink, about Rupert Murdoch’s 1969 turnaround of The Sun, gives us a stunning look at the origins of today’s media-crazed world of fake news (and secret news: OTC will be doing its DMV premiere in 2021-22!). We’ll spend two weeks on each text, and the class is seminar-style: less lecture, more conversation, 90 minutes each. Bring a cocktail or mocktail and settle into some charismatic conversation! Texts are available on our website for student use only.
